Positive Women Victoria was established in 1988 by women living with HIV/AIDS. Positive Women is a support and advocacy organisation for women living with HIV/AIDS. In recognition of our members special needs we provide a safe and comfortable environment that is completely confidential.

Through our newsletters and website we address the need for accurate information that is relevant to women's experience of living with HIV. It is important that women's rights to make their own decisions about their health and future are assisted and supported. We intend to make a genuine contribution to decreasing the number of HIV diagnoses of women in Victoria through education and public awareness campaigns.

All positive women are welcome to become members regardless of background, mode of infection, sexual orientation, age nationality or religion. We offer confidential support to women who have been diagnosed as HIV positive. We recognise that HIV affects not only our members but also their family, friends and colleagues. With this in mind we provide information to all people who want to know more about HIV and how it affects women.

Women who are living with HIV/AIDS are major contributors to the Board and Staff of Positive Women, ensuring that infected women's issues are recognised and voices heard.

The organisation includes HIV positive women and HIV negative women, all working together for the benefit of women living with HIV and their families.
